Sleaford swung into the carnival party beat on Sunday.
The event, in its third year since being revived, was well supported, despite the early wet weather.
Carnival committee chairman, Nigel Gresham, said: “It was a very good day. We estimate around 5,000 people came along this year - slightly down from last year.”
He suspected they may have been competing with other local events, but he wanted to thank everyone for coming and for all who contributed.
He said: “Residents of Sleaford always react brilliantly to these events and that is what makes it worthwhile. Looking around you could see hundreds of smiles and there was no trouble.”
Mr Gresham was disappointed a few people had not understood about road closures for the procession and were getting angry and abusive to marshals.
The parade was preceded by the fun run then entertainment into the evening at the recreation ground. Profits will be shared between the St John Ambulance and Sleaford Community Larder.
