Information sessions have been arranged to advise potential candidates and their election agents in the run up to the forthcoming parliamentary and district council elections.
As well as the General Election taking place on May 7, elections will take place across North Kesteven for 43 seats on the district council.
If you are thinking about standing as a candidate in either the general or district elections, the (acting) returning officer will be holding a briefing at 7pm on Monday at the district council’s offices in Eastgate, Sleaford.
This briefing will explain the nomination process, outline the detailed election timetable, as well as state the legal requirements and processes of an election.
Although most of the district falls within the Sleaford and North Hykeham constituency, parts of the Lincoln constituency also fall within North Kesteven.
The Electoral Commission website contains lots of information and guidance about standing for election.
There is further information on the district council’s website via www.n-kesteven.gov.uk/elections2015.
You can also see what is involved in being a district councillor by reading ‘Become a Councillor’.
All parish and town councils in North Kesteven are scheduled for elections on May 7.
The returning officer will be holding a briefing for those interested in these elections aimed at parish clerks and anyone interested in standing as a parish or town councillor, at 7pm on February 24 at the district council offices, Eastgate, Sleaford, and at 7pm on March 4, at Redwood Drive Community Hall, in Redwood Drive, Waddington.
