A new children’s indoor adventure play area has opened at the Natural World Centre at Whisby as part of a £250,000 new look.
Otter’s Reach, which was launched on Saturday, aims to provide an all-weather experience and educational resource for tots and younger children.
It includes a gravel plant inspired by Whisby’s origins as a gravel pit, as well as a coffee bar for adults.
It is the first phase in the £250,000 refurbishment planned for the centre this spring and summer by owners North Kesteven District Council.
Outdoors, the award-winning and popular Little Darters Wildlife Adventure Area is being transformed to feature a new assault course, balance ropes, and a new lookout tower, while, in the final phase of improvements, the centre’s basement is to be remodelled to provide a conference and exhibition gallery and a separate meeting room.
Coun Marion Brighton, leader of the council, said: “The Natural World Centre is a fantastic place to visit at any time and these refurbishment projects are a welcome and wonderful package of additional enhancements.”
The Natural World Centre is located in Whisby Nature Park, a nature reserve owned and managed by Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.
