North Kesteven is so far the district with the highest percentage turnout in Lincolnshire.
The turn out figure for North Kesteven has been announced by returning officer Ian Fytche as 67,791 - that’s 78.4 per cent of the total eligible vote.
The postal ballot turnout was 10,939 - 92.2 per cent of the total registered. The total number of ballot papers from polling stations was 56,852.
Mr Fytche says the turnout figure is close to the 80 per cent expected, adding: “We are half an hour ahead of where we thought we would be at this stage.
“We are making excellent progress and are half way through the counting of the votes. The votes are piling up in the boxes and you can get a sense of how we are doing.”
