Sparks from combine harvester cause stubble blaze

It is believed sparks from a combine harvester led to five fire appliances being called to a stubble field fire at Harmston yesterday afternoon (Saturday)

The firecrews attended the field close to the A607 near Harmston after reports of stubble on fire at about 4.38pm.

A fire service spokesman said approximately 20 acres of corn stubble were damaged by the fire.

Similar incidents were also reported yesterday in Bourne, Surfleet and Moulton Chapel.
