ONE of the biggest carol services in the region is to be hosted by Sleaford's parish church.
St Denys' Church has stepped in at the eleventh hour to host the annual BBC Radio Lincolnshire/Lincolnshire Newspapers carol service after the original venue, Spalding parish church, was vandalised with dry powder fire extinguisher which damaged the stonework.
The Rev John Patrick said: "We are delighted to be hosting this event on behalf of Radio Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire Newspapers.
"It is nice that Sleaford has again been recognised to host another big occasion - we recently hosted an ordination service - and that we are now considered alongside the major churches in the county for such events. I feel it is putting Sleaford on the map.
"Of course events such as the carol service are major jobs and require a good team working in a collaborative way. At St Denys' we are lucky to have a really good team and we are certainly looking forward to the occasion, which will be a real celebration of Christmas time."
The carol service will be held at St Denys' on Sunday, December 17 and will be aired on Radio Lincolnshire over Christmas.
