Three staff from the Sleaford branch of Screwfix took part in a nationwide fundraising cycle challenge being run by the company.
The Tour De Screwfix will see over 800 staff cycling a 5,500 mile relay around every single one of the company’s trade counters throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Starting off in Scotland they will eventually end up at their head office in Yeovil, Somerset.
The total distance covered is the equivalent of cycling from our Head Office in Yeovil, Somerset to Cape Town, South Africa!
They set a target of £100,000 to raise for The Screwfix Foundation to help those in need by providing grants that will help build, fix, maintain, improve or repair community facilities throughout the UK.
So far the cycle relay has raised £12,933.52.
Sleaford assistant store manager Andy Cosgrove explained he and customer service superviser David Farley cycled the 19.5 miles from their Lincoln branch to Sleaford on Bank Holiday Monday. Then Sleaford manager Steve Knaggs took over and biked 24 miles to their Spalding branch.
Mr Cosgrove said: “The fundraising is still ongoing as there is still a way to go before it reaches our head office.
“Our leg was fine and we did it in 1 hour 35 mins, then Steve got to Spalding in 1hour 55 mins.”
