A motorist has been airlifted to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ following a collision on the A52 near Osbournby.

The crash, involving a car and a van, took place near the junction of Mareham Lane and Saltersway at Threekingham.

It was reported to police shortly before 1pm today (Tuesday, January 20).

The male driver of the car, described by police as ‘elderly’, was flown to the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham.

He had suffered ‘serious injuries’, a spokesman for the police said. The male driver of the van is believed to have been unhurt, he added.

The collision has left the road blocked, though gritting lorries are being allowed to pass.

The incident was also attended by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, with crews from Billingborough, Donington and Sleaford being dispatched to the scene.

Crew members used hydraulic rescue equipment and manpower to release a male casualty from the car.

Both vehicles were also made safe.
