Sleaford man (89) dies after A52 crash at Threekingham

A Sleaford man, aged 89, has died after being involved in a two-vehicle collision on the A52 at Threekingham yesterday (Tuesday, January 20).

The crash, which took place near to the Saltersway junction, was reported to police shortly after 1pm and involved a white Mercedes van and a silver Nissan Micra.

A spokesman for the police said: “The driver of the Nissan, an 89-year-old man from Sleaford, was seriously injured in the collision and flown to Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, by air ambulance for treatment. He was sadly later pronounced dead.”

The male driver of the Mercedes van was not seriously injured.

The road was closed at the scene just after the incident and was not re-opened until 5.20pm.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who may have seen either vehicle before the collision or who witnessed it take place and has not already spoken to police at the scene.
