A woman was trapped in a car following a collision on the A16 at Burwell last night (Wednesday).

The incident happened just before 6.45pm and fire crews from Louth and Alford were needed to free the casualty from a Vauxhall Corsa.

They used Holmatro hydraulic rescue equipment to release the woman, according to a fire service spokesman.

Afterwards, via Twitter, a spokesman for Louth fire station praised “fantastic” inter-agency working with LIVES and air ambulance doctor Simon Topham, ambulance crews and Lincolnshire Police which ensured “a safe and methodical approach to casualty extrication”.
