Traffic is being advised to avoid roads in the Woodhall Spa area as they are ‘very busy’ due to a 1940s event taking place at Woodhall Spa today (Saturday).
Horncastle Police’s Neighbourhood Policing Team Tweeted out earlier: “If your not coming to the Woodhall Spa forties weekend its best to avoid roads in the area as they are very busy already. @Woodhall40sFest.”
Bus service Brylaine have also Tweeted that they have arranged new pickup stops due to the event and the amount of traffic in the area.
Their account said: “Due to 40’s event in Woodhall, services will pick up on Witham Rd or Tattershall Rd. NOT at the hotel bus stop . Apologies for inconvenience.”
Earlier today, organisers wrote on the event’s Facebook wall: “The village roads remain open on Saturday and Sunday, but all non-festival traffic is encouraged to avoid entering the village. For those coming to enjoy the festival please follow the instructions of the police and traffic management company precisely and avoid the temptation to park in side roads or parade along the Broadway.
“The event is at its best when the village centre is left to the vintage vehicles and pedestrians. Thanks in anticipation of your cooperation.”
More than 10,000 visitors are expected to descend on Woodhall Spa this weekend for the annual festival - which takes place today and tomorrow (Sunday)
The event – one of the most successful of its kind in the country – is now in its fourth year and will provide a massive boost to the local economy.
The festival features a wide range of attractions, from outdoor concerts and evening dances to an antiques market and displays of military and classic vehicles.
