COMMUNITY AWARDS - The end of the nomination period for the Leasingham Community Awards for both the Villager and Young Villager of the year is Sunday, May 31.

The awards committee of Leasingham Parish Council is reminding people to complete the form that came with the April edition of the village newsletter or collect a form from the Church, Post Office, Costcutter stores or the village hall if you wish to nominate someone.

If anyone requires further help or details, contact Mr P B Jowett at 8 Deepdale Drive, Leasingham, to whom the forms should be returned to by the closing date.

The nominations will be passed on to the panel of the awards committee, who will be judging them during June.

This year, the presentations to the winners of the awards will take place at the July meeting of the parish council in the village hall. The results will be posted on the village hall notice boards, in the press and in the following edition of the village newsletter.

CHURCH SERVICE - There will be no Sunday Church service in St Andrew’s Church on Sunday, May 31, as it is the fifth Sunday of the month.

Instead, there will be a special benefice holy communion service at All Saints’ Church in Ruskington, our sister church, which all are invited to.

Christopher, the Bishop of Lincoln, will be leading the service, which starts at 10am.

There will be a benefice traditional Sunday Lunch served at the Winchelsea Centre in Ruskington after the service, noon for 12.30pm.

MOBILE LIBRARY - The next monthly visit from the mobile library service will be on Saturday, May 30, between 10am and 10.30am in the village hall car park.

ART GROUP - The next indoor meeting of the Sleaford Area Art Group will be on Wednesday, June 3, from 7pm to 9pm in the village hall when the evening’s theme will be a coastal scene.

OVER 60s CLUB - The next meeting of the Over 60s Club will be today from 2pm in the village hall to which new members are always welcome to come along. Contact Peggy Morgan on 01529 306967.


VOLUNTEERS - St Barnabas’ main shop and bookshop have vacancies for volunteers. If anyone has a few hours to spare, call in to the main shop and speak to one of the managers.

COFFEE MORNING - Ruskington Methodist Church will be holding its popular coffee morning on Saturday, June 6, from 10am to noon in aid of Compassion.

QUIZ AND CUISINE - There will be a quiz and cuisine night at the Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday, June 24, from 7pm. The cost is £5 a head, with teams of no more than six.

ANNUAL PICNIC - The annual Picnic on the Green is being held on Sunday, from 1pm to 5pm.

GARDEN PARTY - As part of the centenary celebrations, Nocton and district WI is holding a garden party at the Old Post Office on Saturday, August 15, between 2pm and 4pm.
