If you fancy a relaxing break while learning how to paint or finally make a start on that novel you’ve always thought about, then why not book an ‘upskilling’ holiday?
These trips can cover everything from learning a language to being taught how to salsa dance.
Travel company, Responsible Travel has seen a rise in demand for upskilling holidays, with bookings up by 132 per cent in three years.
Popular types of upskilling holidays
Some pursuits are proving especially popular among holidaymakers – bookings for painting and art getaways have more than quadrupled, soaring by 433 per cent over the same period.
Dancing is up 173 per cent, and Spanish language courses by 88 per cent.
Responsible Travel founder and CEO, Justin Francis, said, “With so many competing daily demands on our time, pursuing our passions can be a luxury. But more of us are actively seeking to achieve a better balance in life, and we’re seeing that reflected in travel habits.
“There’s been a pronounced shift towards viewing holidays as a chance to invest in ourselves and our interests. Special interest and learning breaks are a great way to meet people, unplug digitally and try something new – or spend quality time doing something you love. They tick a lot of boxes for a growing number of us.”
