Sleaford first XI recorded an emphatic nine wicket victory against their visitors from Louth at the weekend by virtue of an excellent all-round performance which saw them claim a maximum 20-point haul in the Lincs ECB Premier League.
Bowling first after winning the toss, Sleaford put their opponents under pressure from the outset with a combination of good bowling and aggressive fielding.
The visitors never recovered from the early run out of one of their openers which set the tone for the Sleaford display, with all of the bowlers make effective contributions and the wickets being shared around.
Sleaford eventually dismissed their opponents for 151 which appeared to be less than the required total on an excellent batting pitch.
Thomas Shorthouse gave Sleaford some early impetus before being dismissed for 30, made from only 21 balls, but this was to prove Louth’s only success as Tim McIntosh and Louis Kimber produced an untroubled century partnership to take their side to victory with almost half the designated overs still unused.
And in the South Lincs and Border Premier Division, Sleaford kept up their title hopes with a resounding victory at Long Sutton.
Sleaford asked their hosts to bat first after winning the toss, and a six wicket haul from Michael Shelley was largely responsible for dismissing their opponents for 118. This total never looked enough to trouble Sleaford and they eventually eased to a six wicket victory, with Phil Sneath making a half-century.
On Sunday, Sleaford first XI, sponsored by Specsavers, travelled to Hartsholme in a Lincoln League Premier Division fixture and recorded a five wicket victory.
The home side were dismissed for 151 after having produced an opening partnership of 82, Mike Harrop claiming four wickets. Louis Kimber continued his good form with an undefeated 55 in Sleaford’s reply.
