There has been a positive case of coronavirus reported by a visitor to the clubhouse at Sleaford Cricket Club.

In a statement online, the club said the person had visited the clubhouse on Sunday afternoon (September 6) between 2.30pm and 5pm.

The club said: “All visitors who may have come into contact with the individual should be contacted through NHS Track and Trace.

“Whilst we are confident this has not affected the playing side, safety of our players, members and spectators is paramount.

“Therefore, the committee has taken the decision to suspend all cricket activity until and including Friday September 11. During this time, the clubhouse will undergo a thorough clean.

“Our intention is to engage with key stakeholders across the cricket network to ensure a safe return to cricket at our club.”

Earlier this week it was also announced that Sleaford Town’s clash against Pinchbeck United was to be postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test.

The two Lincolnshire rivals were due to meet in the UCL Premier yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

A tweet from Sleaford Town read on Tuesday: “Match off. Unfortunately due to a positive Covid-19 test and following guidance from Public Health England tomorrow night’s fixture against @PinchbeckUnited has been postponed. We will update further when we know that fixtures are due to resume.”
