Sleaford Cricket Club’s First XI were completely outplayed by league leaders Bracebridge Heath at London Road on Saturday in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.
The visitors dominated proceedings throughout, earning a nine-wicket victory.
Batting first after winning the toss, Sleaford were routed by their opponents’ new ball pairing of Houston and Silva, who shared nine wickets between them. Only skipper Oliver Burford, with 42, made a significant contribution as his side was dismissed for 89, a total that the visitors passed with the loss of only one wicket.
Sleaford’s Sunday First XI fared much better the following day when they defeated Boston by 54 runs.
Sleaford made 225 for the loss of five wickets with major contributions coming from McIntosh and Kimber, whilst the visitors were restricted to 171 for the loss of six wickets, with Mason Mansfield claiming three victims.
The Sunday Academy team were defeated at Hykeham, replying to the home side’s total of 204 with 172, thanks to Burford with 54 and Conor Harbron with 38.
Ben Hutson had been Sleaford’s most successful bowler with five wickets.
This weekend sees the First XI travel to Lincoln Lindum on Saturday, with the Second XI entertaining the same opponents.
On Sunday, the First XI travel to Middle Rasen, whilst the Academy side entertain Woodhall.
