As a special treat for becoming county football champions, members of the St Botolph’s CE Primary School’s victorious girls’ football team were given the opportunity to see England Women in action.
The school organised for the girls to go down to the MK Dons Stadium in Milton Keynes to see England’s recent friendly international against the USA Women.
The match, watched by a crowd of 14,369, was won by USA 1-0, thanks to a 23rd minute goal from Alex Morgan, but, despite the result, the girls from St Botolph’s thoroughly enjoyed their trip.
A school spokesperson said: “As a reward for their hard work leading to them winning the county championships, the school paid for the team to attend the England Ladies versus USA match.
“We are very grateful to Sleafordian Coaches, who kindly upgraded our coach to the Lincoln team coach.”
St Botolph’s won the county title in January, beating Richmond from Skegness 1-0 in the final after extra-time. Prior to that St Botolph’s had won all their other games.
The team will play in the regional final in Nottingham on March 14.
