Pointon U15 1 Welton U15 3
A spectacular Ed Brady goal could not prevent Pointon from going down at home in a physical encounter against Welton on Sunday.
The visitors employed a tough tackling defence line and despite some good service from midfield, home striker Mike Fleming was repeatedly frustrated in his attempts to put Pointon ahead.
It was 25 minutes before Brady broke the deadlock, with a run along the left before cutting in and curling in a shot into the top right hand corner of the Welton goal.
He could have added to his tally a few minutes later when a header went just wide.
After having the best of the first half, the start of the second saw the game swing away from Pointon.
With the defence line seemingly still on their half time break, the Welton striker was allowed a free attempt on goal that was accepted with glee.
To add insult to injury they then scored again a few minutes later with a shot from the edge of the home box.
With the game becoming more and more frantic, Pointon were reduced to 10 men following a challenge which saw one of the opposition being carried off the field.
As Blues pushed men forward they conceded again right at the end to give the game slightly unjust 3-1 scoreline.
