United record first win

Lincolnshire League

Heckington United 2

Lincoln United Res 1

Heckington dominated from the start and only a combination of good goalkeeping and the woodwork stopped them from scoring two or three before the break.

Tom Robinson read the danger from a break down the right and worked hard to get back and intercept the cross only to see the ball hit the back of his own net to put Lincoln one up.

For a while Lincoln were in the game but Heckington gradually re-established their superiority and were unlucky to go in a goal behind at half time.

After the break Heckington continued to dominate and their defence gave the visitors few opportunities.

Goals from Alan Forwood and Robinson gave Heckington the lead and they could have had a third from the penalty spot, but Musson’s spot kick was saved.

It was Heckington’s first win of the campaign.
