An action-packed week for Tri3 Sleaford Triathlon Club started with the first of the club’s three aquathon events (swim–run) hosted at Sleaford Leisure Centre.
It attracted 34 adult and junior competitors from the host club as well as athletes from Sleaford Striders and Boston Tri Club.
The next aquathon will be held on Monday, June 8 and is open to all abilities from ages 8-plus.
* The weekend also saw the second in the Midlands Sprint Series at Holme Pierrepont, near Nottingham.
A 10-strong group from the Sleaford club swam 750m in open water, biked 20km and then ran 5km and they produced some fabulous results with Debbie Black achieving second place in her age group.
* As part of the weekend of events, 4 club members competed in the longer distance Outlaw Half Ironman event (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run).
Shaun Balfe, of junior squad sponsors T Balfe Construction, competed at the distance for the first time, as did Stuart Gutteridge who now has his sights on a full ironman next year.
Father and son Derek and Kenton Jones also competed and were rewarded for incredibly hard training with some fantastic results.
* Two of the club’s seasoned athletes completed the Slateman Triathlon in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.
Ellie Pocock completed the 1km swim, 51km bike and 11km run in 3hr 17min and 49secs and Tri3 Sleaford’s star of the future, 18-year-old Seamus Sheard came second in his age group, finishing in an amazing 2hr 42min 7secs.
