The final event in the Sleaford Striders’ race series took place in the picturesque village of Cropwell Bishop, with 14 striders taking part in the Stilton Stumble on a foggy morning.
The 11th race saw the athletes taking on an undulating course with the prize of a block of Stilton cheese at the end.
In the 10k race, Dave Burton, 18th overall and first Strider home, finished in a time of 41mins 24secs, followed closely by his nearest rival Andy Dickinson in 43.22.
Alan Buckberry was next home, in 47.46, with the injured Andy Preston (48.13) coming home just behind him.
Sleaford Strider newcomer Ian Scott concluded the race series in a time of 48.47.
Zoe Hannan was the first female runner to finish; her time 50.13. Second home and overall winner of the ladies’ race series was Anna Thompson, in a time of 52.00.
Other Striders taking part in the 10k event were Jim Millar (52.21), Ann Riddell (57.33), Graham Riddell (57.36), Ted Preston (58.48) and Sally Hollick (70.10).
Special mention goes to Darrell Williamson and Derek James who took part in the 24k event. Both were well placed, with Darrell finishing in 2.10.27.
Away from Cropwell Bishop, Alan Oliver took part in the Leeds Abbey Dash, a 10k event, which he completed in a time of 35.16.
