With the end of Coningsby Kart Club’s season drawing ever nearer, every race counts with all the class championships being very close.

The club, which races on grass over the summer at Metheringham, held its annual funday and Coningsby C plate meeting at the end of August raising money for Metheringham swimming pool.

With the September meeting being the penultimate championship round, all of the 250cc machines were showing some amazing speed and some even managing power wheelies.

The day saw some very close racing and excellent driving skills. The C70 class was won by local lad Ethan Brown.

The C90 class was won by Liam Adcock, who travelled from Swaffham, beating local driver Robert Townsend into second.

The 125 4 stroke juniors produced some of the closest races of all with Liam Foreman taking first place.

The 125 4 stroke seniors class saw the ambulance out twice due to minor accidents but there were no serious injuries. The winner was Lisa Fountain.

The 125 2 strokes was won by relative newcomer Paul Knight while the Honda 200 twins went to Dave Townsend.

The 250 4 stroke class was again won by senior racer Cliff Hoppe. The fastest class on the day, the 250 2 strokes, had one of the closest finishes with just two points separating Shaun Everard and runner-up Simon Brown.

The junior handicap was won by Owen Edwards while the senior handicap went to Shaun Everard, who came from the very back of the grid.

The final meeting of the grass season is on October 12.
