GOLF: South Kyme celebrates silver jubilee with wealth of competition

With South Kyme Golf Club celebrating its 25th year, the competition scene is at an all time high at present with many differing types of competitions on offer.

This weekend saw the club’s Junior competition won convincingly by Ethan English with a gross 74-11=63.

The first and second team play nine holes every Saturday afternoon.

Club champion Ryan Trow now leads the Order of Merit and Danny Ellis leads the eclectic.

It looks a like it could be a record year in terms of both low scoring and high competitor numbers. The Saturday Swing remains ever popular and, despite very strong winds, a wide cross section of the club enjoyed playing. The was no surprise at the top of the list as Ethan English also took top honours.

Sunday saw Winter League pre-qualifying round four of six for the W. H. Brown Cup. Roger Mead and John Spooner scored 24 points in a modified Sprint Stableford. In second were place Neil Lindsey and Alan Wells on countback from Andy Lowth and Paul Munks on 22 points.

Ryan Trow and Cameron Chamberlain still lead the qualifying table. With 80 players taking part in this event, it ensured a lively atmosphere in the clubhouse afterwards, with everyone describing their best shots.
