The Over 60s continued their good run of results by beating Dunholme by 115 to 78 and gaining 14 points to go top of their division.

Team Captain Larry Davies’ rink of R Barnes, T Thackray and T Stanley were in awesome form to win 27 – 9. Gerald Pask, with F Collin, T Curran and M Wareham started well enough but fell away mid-game, scoring just 1 shot to Dunholme’s 10 before rallying, but lost out 19 – 23. D Chandley, with D Hocking, J Thomas and H Smyth led all the way to a good win 12 – 10. A Bristow’s set of K Dowling, K Whiteside and R Pearson had a particularly strong finish to extend their lead and win easily 24 – 11. D Stobart’s team of P Annison, P Bacon and C Grosse started strongly but lost 10 in quick succession to a disappointing loss at 24 – 25.

The Trudy Bates team went to Stamford and made a good fist of it on a different green. A loss by only 80 – 97 shows a growing willingness to tackle a difficult situation. Gillian Turner’s set of Barbara Barnes, Janet Fergus and Helen Quirke led for most of the way and ran out winners 19 – 16. Rhoda Wing, with Carole Richardson, Steph Collin and Sheila Methven came from behind late on with 9 shots without reply to win 10 – 18. Gill Dwyer’s rink of Carol Wallis, Heather Duffy and Linda Wills seemed in control of a tight game, but were undone late on 15 – 20. Kath Lake’s set of Gloria Davies, Margaret Holder and Mary Thomas were 11-4 at the mid-point but then lost line and length to a strong come-back 14 – 20. Joss Banister’s set of Monica Law, Shirley Eaglen and Sheila Pratt were 11 down within a blink but a come back could not overcome the poor start losing 12 – 23.

The Friendly team hosted Deepings in a triples game and were too strong overall for the visitors.

Lily Searle, Roy Workman and Ken Searle were in good form and were easy winners 31 – 5. Nigel Moxon, Keith Richards and Terry Wallis also had a good win 28 – 11. Charlie Rands, Sylvia Goate and Pat Rands had a tight game but just managed to keep their noses in front to a win 16 – 15. John Scott, George Glover and Carole Wallis came from behind to draw level but were unable to hold out and went down 15 – 20. Bill Ellison, Mike Goate and June Tonge were in startling form, dropping just 3 ends to take best rink at 35 – 7. Team Captain John Bennett, with Len Rowlands and Yvonne Paul were involved in a close struggle with Deepings’ Captain Terri, but finished strongly to win 21 – 17.
