Sleaford Golf Club member Oliver Harrod represented England Schools in their annual match against Scotland Schools. The match took place at Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club, with Oliver helping England to victory, winning both his foursomes and singles matches.
l The BSMH weekend at Sleaford Golf Club was well supported, with players from home and away taking part. The mixed competition was once more won by John and Gill Moore with 45 points, who edged out Andy and Joy Stepney on count back, Third place went to Geoff Burnett and Heidi Rees with 44.
The men’s competition is divided into a gross and net event. The gross prize was won by Jake Cradock on 71, with Matt Lawson (72) second and Jimmy Smith (73) third. Andrew Henderson took the net prize, beating Stephen Undrell on a count back, both with net 66s. Mark Pinfold was third with a net 67.
l A busy few weeks for the club’s ladies’ section saw the Vets Cup won by Val Flemming with 31pts, edging out Gill Lamming on 30, and the Vintage Cup go to Sadie Marshall (36pts), with Val Power (29pts) second place.
The September Stableford was won by Gill Moore with 38pts, four clear of second placed Mo Wykes on 34.
l The Seniors’ Captain’s Shield saw three teams scoring 45pts. On count back Brian Cuthbert and Mike Browning took first place, with Richard Higgs and Martyn Hadley second and Pat Flemming and Eric Norbury third.
l The Ron Body Golf day raised £460 for charity and this will be matched by Barclays Bank, whose staff assisted on the day. Three players scored 41pts, with Les Wilkinson taking first place, just beating John Broughton and Bob Braban.
l The men’s September Stableford was won by Terry Plumb with 42pts.
l The Junior Kings Head Trophy, sponsored by Martin Taylor, was won once more by Rhys Meyers with a gross 74, with the net prize going to Edward Bower (nett 61).
