Sleaford sidecar racer Gary Horsepole rode to a brace of sixth-place finishes at Silverstone in the penultimate round of the British F1 Sldecar championship.
He and passenger Jimmy Connell scored 20 championship points, which maintains their seventh place in the rider standings.
The team completed their qualifying in 11th to start their first race from a fourth-row grid position.
After a close race, Horspole and Connell crossed the finish line in seventh place.
But a rider ahead was a wildcard entry and was excluded from the points -so Horspole benefitted by being awarded the points for sixth place.
Starting the second race from the third row, Horspole and Connell moved up into sixth place on the first lap but then dropped to ninth one lap later.
They recovered to seventh place and, because the wildcard entry finished and crossed the line ahead of them once again, they were awarded sixth-place points once more.
The 20 points awarded from the two races maintain Horspole’s position of seventh in the rider standings, but the gap has reduced to just four points from Holland and Watson.
With double points being awarded in the final round it is possible that Horspole and Connell could end their season further up the standings.
The final round is at Brands Hatch over the weekend of October 16-18.
