Sleaford Sidecar racer Gary Horspole, with Jimmy Connell in the chair, rode to a brace of points finishes at Brands Hatch over the weekend in round two of the British F1 Sidecar championship.
Horspole now moves on to the leader board with seven championship points.
Following their crash at Donington Park two weeks earlier, it was doubtful whether Jimmy Connell would be fit to ride, but he underwent a stiff medical examination at the circuit and was given the all clear.
Horspole and Connell qualified in 11th position for Saturday’s race, starting from the sixth row of the grid.
They made an excellent start but after just four laps the race was halted by the red flag due to an oil leak from another outfit. It was eventually decided to call a result at four laps distance and award half championship points. With Horspole and Connell lying eighth, they picked up four championship points.
For the second race, on Sunday, Horspole and Connell started from a fourth row grid position. They initially moved up to ninth but dropped back to 10th until the penultimate lap. In the final two laps they lost three places, and finished 13th to pick up a further three points.
They will be in action again in the next round at Oulton Park in Cheshire over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend of May 2-4.
