One of Stamford Rugby Club’s junior coaches has been shortlisted for a national award.
Mark Anderson, head coach to the club’s Under 15 team, is in the running for the QBE Insurance ‘Coach of the Year’ award, which recognises outstanding coaches across the country.
Anderson is a stalwart of the club and is a well-known character within the sport. Over the many years he has been coaching, he has developed players from grassroots level up into the adult game.
His constant dedication and enthusiasm has ensured his team has a strong bond, and that the players show respect for one another and continue to enjoy the game.
Sharon Green, a fellow member of the club who nominated Anderson for the national award, commented: “As well as being a great coach, Mark is a great life teacher. He is constantly working with the kids to look for opportunities to develop them into rounded individuals. Mark takes the time to understand an individual player’s sporting ability as well as their personality. He is a fantastic coach and a real asset to our club.”
The winner of the award will be announced at the National Rugby Awards Night on Wednesday September 2, 2015. To buy tickets for the event please visit: http://www.nationalrugbyawards.co.uk/
