Sleaford Social Badminton Club are appealing for more players to keep their regular Thursday evening sessions going at Northgate Sports Hall.
The group runs from 7.30pm until 9pm and players of all abilities are welcome, aged 16 and over.
You don’t need to come with a partner as players swap throughout the evening playing doubles.
Teaching assistant Jackie Gilbert, 48, from Sleaford, started at the club having seen it advertised. She said: “I had never played before in my life. The more experienced players help you to up your game and improve, so people without experience are welcome to come and enjoy it.”
She added: “We just turn up and play together - it is open to anybody who would like to play as we are not in any leagues. Our numbers have been declining. It is just for a bit of exercise and good fun and we don’t want the club to fold.”
It is £3 per person for a session and there are four courts available.
Jackie said: “It is more exciting than going to the gym. Our youngest player is about 19 and we have some in their sixties, so it is a good cross section - male and female.
Andy Allen from the sports hall said: “We are looking to make sure the community maximises the wonderful facilities here.” For more information contact 01529 308746.
