Cranwell racer Jack Bell wins motorcycling championship

Before motorsport was halted, Bell won the Champions Flat Track School Pro Championship with a 16-point advantage over closest challenger Franco Bourne.

National Superstock rider Tom Neave took the overall win at the final round with an impressive four wins from six races at Glentham, near Market Rasen.

But Bell also rode well to take a couple of wins and finish the day in second place.

It was a great showcase for the teenager, competing among a good entry, with many British Superbike riders taking part, including the Honda Racing riders Glenn and Andrew Irwin.

The final round of the championship had been due to take place on March 28 before the lockdown on sport.

Overall results: 1 Tom Neave, 2 Jack Bell, 3 Tom Laycock, 4 Andy Irwin, 5 Taylor Mackenzie, 6 Steve Gurnhill, 7 Glenn Irwin, 8 Mikey Taylor.

Championship standings: 1 Jack Bell 77, 2 Franco Bourne 61, 3 Steve Gurnhill 53, 4 Tom Neave 40, 5 Kier Armstrong 33, 6 Tom Laycock 32.

Bell was also out at Mablethorpe in the Sand Racing Championship last month where he had an exceptional day, taking all five wins in both the 250 and 450 classes.

The results were enough for home to clinch the overall 250 title, taking an unassailable 31-point lead over second-placed rider Toby Rea.

“Today was the first time I have won both classes overall,” he sad.

“I’m really happy with the results, especially now that I have won the adult 250 class for the first time.”

* On March 8, Bell returned to Mablethorpe where he finished third in the 450 class before travelling to Kings Lynn for a ride with Motor Show Events on the 450 bike.
