With bad weather decimating Saturday’s cricket programme, Sunday saw Sleaford’s first XI comfortably beaten by Woodhall Spa, whilst The Academy, sponsored by Turnbulls, enjoyed an emphatic victory at Old Lincolnians.
Fielding first on Sunday, and sponsored by Specsavers, Sleaford produced an effective bowling display to dismiss their visitors for 166, with Thomas Shorthouse claiming five wickets and newcomer Thomas Wormington producing an impressive and accurate seven over spell.
In reply, and despite a half century from Andy Hibberd, Sleaford never threatened their visitors and were eventually dismissed for a disappointing total of 110.
At Old Lincolnians, skipper Kurt Colyn took six wickets and, with good support from Ben Hutson who claimed five, managed to dismiss their hosts for 159.
Gavin Hutson steered Sleaford home with an undefeated innings of 96, with good support from Colyn who made 35, to leave Sleaford the victors by seven wickets.
This Saturday in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League, Sleaford first XI, sponsored by Baker Plant Hire, entertain Grantham, with the reverse fixture taking place at Grantham against Sleaford’s Darren Wilson sponsored team. On Sunday, Sleaford entertain Lindum with home matches starting at midday and 1pm respectively with admission free to all spectators.
