All sections of Sleaford Gol fClub are now in full swing and the summer programme of competitions and matches has started.
The men’s A and B teams were in action at the weekend but both were beaten by Belton Park sides. The A team went down by 3.5 matches to 2.5, while the B team, playing away, were beaten 4.5 to 1.4.
The April Medal and Stableford competitions attracted a total field of 245 players, with the medal being won by Mick Limming with a nett 65, Lee Driver and Steve Rust took second place, both with nett 68s.
The stableford was won by Gavin Hutson, on 43 points, with Mark Gee in second place. Sharing third were Roger Lockhead and Ken Agbonobi.
Heading the qualifiers for the knockout stages of the Money Cup are Jai Henderson and Ken Squires and, in the Vintner, Rick Legg, Paul Fryer and Mick Baines.
The seniors’ section have won one and lost two of their last three inter-club fixtures and David Swaithe took first place in their recent stableford competition.
In the ladies’ section, two EWGA medals have taken place. Gill Lamming, with a nett 68 (gross 79 minus handicap of 11), won the first, beating Alice Coote net 70 (76-6).
The second medal was won by Sadie Marshall with a nett 72 (100-28). Celia Collinge on 73 (95-22) was second.
The mixed handicap team travelled to Stoke Rochford, losing 3-1.The winning pair were lady captain Sally Downie and vice-captain Margaret Walsh.
The first league match of the season ended in a defeat for the team, losing 3.5 to .5 at Burghley.
Val Power was successful in the Trafford Trophy. Her 34 points were sufficient to edge out Gill Lamming on 32.
In the Slee Trophy, Leila Faulkner (37pts) was first and Val Flemming second.
