Crowds of villagers came out in force to see the traditional switching on of the Christmas tree lights in Metheringham before enjoying a festive market.
There was carolling by lantern light around the War Memorial Garden in the High Street with the Silver Sounds Band and a collection of Nativity characters before Father Christmas arrived by sleigh, assisted by the local fire service, ready to hear the requests for presents from hoards of children.
Elves were handing out free reindeer dust to be sprinkled on Christmas Eve
Visitors to the market, held on Sunday in the Star and Garter car park, entered through a flurry from a snow machine to get them in the mood to look around more than 20 stalls and watch a performance by Digby Military Wives Choir.
There were vintage swing boat rides for the children and lots to eat and drink.
