The small blacksmith’s workshop at Welbourn was a welcoming attraction early in the new year.
Open to visitors on the first Saturday of each month, it has been maintained by volunteers for 15 years on behalf of North Kesteven District Council, which bought the 1860s building to preserve this relatively untouched example of a Victorian blacksmith’s forge and farriery. It also opens for other special events and visits by appointment. Volunteers Bill Goodhand explains: “We aim to be a living museum trying to preserve and maintain some of the blacksmith’s traditional crafts for the public to see.
