Exhibition will not go against the grain

A unique exhibition drawing influence from the natural environment will see the work of pyrographer Elaine Thompson, back by popular demand at Whisby Natural World Centre from April 19 to June 1.

She makes irregular shaped pictures from pieces of English hardwood using the grain as the inspiration for the work.

Entitled Out of the Woods, this will be a selling exhibition so you can buy a piece of this unique artwork.

Elaine will also be holding a free drop-in session on April 19 and May 17 between 10.30am and 3pm, a chance for you to have a go and create your own small piece of work to take away. You can see and replicate pictures in the grain and Elaine will be on hand to answer any questions and talk about her inspirations, different woods and the techniques she uses to create her artwork. This event is suitable for adults and supervised children aged nine years and over.
