An exhibition exploring the versatility of the ancient material of paper is set to open at Sleaford’s National Centre for Craft and Design (NCCD).
Paper: Beyond The Fold opens at the venue in Navigation Wharf, Carre Street, on Saturday to run through until Sunday, June 26.
It will present the work of a wide range of artists, makers and designers who have taken paper as their medium and show how it is used in contemporary craft and design.
Exhibits will include terracotta paper pulp items by Debbie Wijskamp, a new hand-cut piece by Sue Shields and Fine Paper-ware, and a collection of paper cups inspired by traditional ceramic styles such as Jasperware by Rebecca Wilson.
It will also feature the ‘Paper Rhythms’ collection by Mayumi Kaneko and Jennie Parry.
The pair use origami and kumihimo technique and work to shed new light onto Japanese traditions.
Admission to the NCCD is free entry, but donations are welcome.
Charges apply for some workshops and events.
It is open from 10am to 5pm.
