The Sleaford Concert Band will be performing its first full concert in its new uniform at St Denys’ Church, Sleaford, on Saturday.
It is the Mayor of Sleaford, Keith Dolby’s, charity concert.
The Concert Band are busy rehearsing for its overseas tour to Barcelona in May.
Director of music Jim McQuade has selected a varied and challenging programme for the Mayor’s Concert.
Some new arrangements have proved popular with the Band – Mamma Mia is an excellent but testing arrangement. The Band will play a Beatles selection called Echoes of an Era and a tribute to the music of Queen and Freddie Mercury.
There will be a number of surprises during the evening and a solo feature. The Concert Band is a symphonic wind band featuring brass and woodwind. The principal clarinet Ken Garfield is also a virtuoso recorder player. Ken has chosen to play a lively on a descant recorder in his own arrangement.
The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets are £6, from Wilcox and Carter Jewellers, Bristol Arcade, Sleaford.
