Real ale fans had a treat at the weekend when the Rotary Club of Sleaford Kesteven staged its annual St George’s Beer Festival at St Denys’ Church Hall in Sleaford.
The four-day event not only offered a wide variety of ales, plus ciders and lager, it also provided some live, ceilidh style music to keep the drinkers entertained while they sampled the beers.
Tony Shearer of the Rotary Club said: “It was a fabulous event.
“We were busy on each evening.”
It was the 11th Rotary Beer Festival and, once all the bills have been paid, it is expected to have raised about £8,000, which will go to local and Rotary charities.
Among the 20 beers on offer were a Magpie Brewery Thieving Rogue and a Poachers Monkey Hanger, both with an ABV of 4.5 per cent, as well as some strong ciders, such as the Broadoak Cider Moonshine at 7.5 per cent, and a Scrumpy Wasp, aptly named Amnesia, at 7.2 per cent.
