A Brownies group near Sleaford is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary ... and would like to hear from ex-members to help mark the occasion.
The 1st Ruskington Brownies is holding a special party on Monday, October 19.
“We are all really looking forward to the celebrations,” said Anne Riddington, a leader at the group for the last 14 years and current district commissioner for the Sleaford North area.
“The Brownies made invitations this week to send out and we are looking at the changes in Brownies running up to the event.”
“It’s quite an achievement to get to 50 years with no breaks in running,” she added. “There have been many changes over the years – and not only the uniform.
“We are looking forward to whatever the next 50 years may bring.”
The group would like to invite as many ex-Brownies and leaders as possible to the party and is appealing for some help in that regard.
“We are struggling to find any details about girls and leaders who attended the first meetings from 1965 to 1975,” Anne said.
“Anyone with details can contact me on 01526 833076 firstname.lastname@example.org.”
That said, the group has already had some success in reconnecting with its past, Anne said.
“We are thrilled that we have already heard from past Brownies and are looking forward to hearing their stories of what they did,” she added.
