Young sporting stars at mini Olympics event

Around 350 children from primary schools across the Sleaford area joined in a mini Olympics event.

This is the eighth such event organised by Lincolnshire Central School Sport Partnership, held this time at the Eslaforde Park football ground.

School staff were assisted by 60 Young Sports Leaders from secondary schools, along with a number of local sporting clubs and coaches and former Olympic swimmer Sophie Allen giving boxercise coaching.

Schools paraded on home-made ‘floats’ accompanied by a samba band in an Olympic opening ceremony. The different sports were divided into areas named after the four regions of Rio and children took turns at each sport over 12 minute sessions. Future stars in the 10-11 years age group were on hand to inspire.
