Microchipping event for dogs at vets
From April 6, it will compulsory for all dog owners to have their pets microchipped and registered with a national database. The government is set to fine anyone who does not comply with the new regulations.
It means that all puppies must be chipped by eight weeks old.

On Saturday, the veterinary surgery at Silk Willoughby hosted the special event, with two vets and nurses on hand to deal with dogs by appointment for a small fee.
It ensures the best possible chance of lost dogs being reunited with their owner. A microchip is pictured being inserted in dog Sam via syringe by veternary surgeon Jillian Kerr, watched by owner Stephen Wright. Photo: David Dawson MSSP-300116-7
