Three vehicle collision on A17 causes tailbacks at Byard's Leap

The A17 at Byards Leap, between Cranwell and Leadenham, was partially blocked by a three vehicle collision this afternoon (Wednesday) after freak wintry weather.

Lincolnshire Police say they received reports of the incident at about 3.06pm where one car ended up in a ditch but there appeared to be no injuries to occupants.

A police spokesman said it involved a an orange Mitsubishi Colt from Sleaford, a silver Vauxhall Mondeo from Bracebridge Heath and a Mercedes Vito panel van from Norfolk.

The road ws partially blocked to allow for recovery of the vehicles, causing traffic tailbacks.

Lincolnshire Police Specials tweeted photos from the scene showing the bizarre weather conditions which had left slushy sleet or snow on the road.

They tweeted: “Bizarre weather this afternoon, A17 at Leadenham now reopened, fortunately no injuries, please take care!”
