After the presentation evening for the Sleaford Town Awards, organised by the Town Council and the Sleaford Standard, the one winner who could not attend has received her trophy.

Fiona Lucas is a 16-year-old synchronised skater who has won the British Championships with her team and competed at international level. As a result she won the Junior Sports Individual of the Year Award.

The Kesteven and Sleaford High School student received her award from Mayor of Sleaford David Suiter and sponsor Clive Wicks.

She said: “I have been to the World Championships and we had a clean ‘free’ programme but struggled in the shorter routine making a few too many mistakes, but it was a strong competition.”

Fiona added: “I am having a break now for my GCSEs and will decide what to do next in the summer.”
