Fan triggers debate by picking his Trinity dream team
Charlie Russell has posted his ideal team on the Trinity website, sparking a debate that could last the entire close season!
In a 4-5-1 formation, Russell’s side comprises players who were fans’ favourites or who made the grade at professional level:

Hide AdDIMITAR EVTIMOV (goalkeeper): 24-year-old Bulgarian who joined Gainsborough on loan in 2011 from Nottingham Forest and has since had loan spells at Mansfield Town and Port Vale.
BEN PURKISS (right-back): joined Gainsborough in 2003 after failing to break into Sheffield United’s side. The 34-year-old made 113 league appearances for the club before moving on to York City and later played for Oxford United, Walsall, Port Vale and Swindon Town.
ANDREW BOYCE (centre-back): helped Trinity reach the play-off finals in 2011/12 before playing for Lincoln City, Scunthorpe United, Grimsby Town and Notts County.
LUKE WATERFALL (centre-back): the current captain of Checkatrade Trophy winners at Wembley, Lincoln City, who played in 104 league games for Trinity.

Hide AdJOSH WILDE (left-back): helped North Ferriby United win the FA Trophy at Wembley after a spell with Gainsborough. Now at FC Halifax Town.
ELLIOT HODGE (right midfield): son of Nottingham Forest legend Steve Hodge, the 22-year-old, who was on loan at Trinity in 2016, is currently at Notts County.
OLLIE BANKS (centre midfield): joined Trinity after being released by Rotherham United, and has since played for Chesterfield, Northampton Town, Oldham Athletic and Swindon Town.
MARK WILSON (centre midfield): veteran 39-year-old who had a period at Trinity after a lengthy pro career that saw service at Manchester United and Middlesbrough.

Hide AdMARK HUDSON (centre midfield): had a brief spell at Gainsborough after playing more than 200 times in the Football League for Chesterfield, Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United.
TERRY HAWKRIDGE (left midfield): scored 14 goals for Trinity in 2012 before helping Lincoln City win the National League and then moving on to Notts County.
ALEX RODMAN (striker): enjoyed a season at Trinity among other non-league clubs before making his mark with Notts County and Shrewsbury.
