Ryan Oliver was Sleaford Town’s hat trick hero in their 5-2 win over Peterborough Northern Star in the United Counties League Knockout Cup on Wednesday night.
Playing their fifth away game out of seven, the Greens came back twice from being a goal down and powered to victory.
Town went behind first but threatended shortly afterwards when an Oliver header struck the bar.
Sleaford went into half time level courtesy of a George Asplin equaliser.
PNS went in front a second time after the break but there was an instant reply from Town when Oliver headed in from an Asplin corner kick.
The visitors went ahead for the first time when Asplin and Oliver combined again, with the latter heading home once more to make it 3-2.
Substitute Tom Siddons put Sleaford 4-2 up and Oliver completed his hat trick when he ran through on goal and lifted the ball over the PNS keeper.
In their league match at home on Saturday, Sleaford missed out on even a share of the points when Northampton ON Chenecks sealed a 3-2 victory in the 85th minute.
The Greens found themselves 1-0 down at half time after the visitors scored in the 36th minute.
Sleaford replied after the break when Oliver headed home from a Bradley Hotchin corner kick on 66 minutes.
That goal was effectively scrubbed a minute later when Chenecks scored from a penalty.
But another Oliver header from a Sam Greenwood cross on 75 minutes put Town back on level terms, before the killer blow came 10 minutes later.
l Sleaford Town were scheduled to play at Harrowby United last night and will host Leicester Nirvana on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
The Greens will be at home again next Wednesday night when the visitors to Eslaforde Park will be high-flying Peterborough Sports, kick-off 7.45pm.
