Anna Wilkinson won bronze in the ladies’ yellow belt sparring and Joe McKenna (11) carried home a silver in the boys’ green belt flying kicks.

There was also success for several from the club’s Tigers class, with boys and girls as young as five years competing in a special separate discipline and bringing home five medals for the club.

All the members train at the town club, under the guidance of sixth degree black-belt Jill Pearce, which meets every Tuesday and Thursday at Carre’s Grammar School and Northgate Sports Hall. Anyone interested in further information on the club, including the newly opened ladies only class, can email the instructor at [email protected]
