Richard started working on the novel after he wrote the script for Shadows of a Stranger starring Colin Baker and Colin McFarlane.

Richard said: “This book is actually something I’ve worked on for some time, and when I was making the film it had to take a back seat. But with the film out the way I decided to get on and complete it, and I also have a follow up novel planned for next year.”

Richard has always been fascinated by coastal towns and said: “I’ve always found that coastal towns like Skegness, Whitby and Hunstanton have a certain allure and mystery to them, so the setting is something of cross between all these places.”

Richard added: “Plus there are certainly a few references to my home town of Sleaford that local readers will get. In fact Sleaford even has a little mention on the opening page.”
