Delighted bosses of Mountain’s Boston Sausage managed to get the highly-popular takeaway van back up and running again just a day after they got it back after it was located by the police.

Thieves used their own towbar hitch and wheel brace to take the trailer, which has Mountain’s Boston Sausage emblazoned on the side, from the Mountain’s Abbey Parks Farm Shop at East Heckington.

Police found it in Spilsby last week, and the company was able to get it back on Thursday – and were up and running again on Friday, with big queues over the weekend.

No one has been arrested and police inquiries are ongoing into the theft.

The firm says it had more than 200,000 views on the Facebook appeal it made after the trailer was stolen on Sunday February 6.

Donna Savidge of Boston Sausage said: “We had such great support from customers and people that didn’t know us sharing the appeal.”

She said they were notified by police that the trailer had been found in Lincolnshire and asked to go and get it.

Donna said: “The boys then worked extremely late into the night to ensure that it was up to the cleanliness standards that we work to so we could get a relatively quick turnaround and get it operating on Friday.

“Saturday and Sunday we had phenomenal days, with huge queues. People have shown support both on social media and in person.

“The level of support has really touched everyone.”

Inspector Fran Harrod of Boston Police said: “We are delighted to have recovered the Boston sausage trailer and reunited it with its owner. It was stolen on the 6th of February and was located last week in the Spilsby area.
