East Lindsey planners have turned down a proposal for a house, detached triple garage and garden store to be built on land off Eastfield Lane in Grimoldby.

Coun Jill Makinson-Sanders said: “This would represent creeping urbanisation.

“For the benefit of birds and other wildlife, we need to keep our rural areas.”

Coun Sid Dennis agreed, and said: “It’s a beautiful lane - let’s not spoil it with more development.”

Objections were also voiced by Coun Michael Starsmore and Coun Terry Knowles, with the latter noting that flooding problems in the village were “legendary”.

He continued: “We don’t want to see a housing estate being built by stealth.”

The application was refused 11-0 with one abstention.

The unsuccessful applicant is Mr K. Verity.
